Reduce Felony to Misdemeanor

Terminate ProbationSan Diego Post-Conviction Attorneys

Were you Convicted of a Felony and having trouble because of a Felony Record?  Clear your record by Reducing the Felony Conviction!  Our attorneys Reduce Felony Convictions by drafting, filing and arguing Petitions to Reduce under California Penal Code § 17(b).  We’ve helped many clients in San Diego and other California Counties to clear their criminal records of felony convictions.

What is a Felony Reduction?

Reduction of a felony to a misdemeanor can have long lasting positive effects on your life.  Some jobs will not hire you if you have a felony record and you may be denied certain rights that non-felons enjoy.  You may be denied a state license or accreditation or not be allowed to adopt a child.  If the conviction is reduced to a misdemeanor, it is a misdemeanor for all purposes.  This means that all penalties associated with having a felony record will be vanquished and all rights bestowed on non-felons will be restored.

What is Penal Code 17b?

Under Penal Code 17(b), the court has discretion to reduce a felony charge to a misdemeanor.  This can happen even years after the date of conviction.  If you have an old felony conviction or even a new felony conviction, you may be eligible to have it reduced.

Wobblers

In order for your conviction to be eligible for 17(b) relief, it must be a wobbler.  A wobbler is an offense that can be charged either as a misdemeanor or felony.  There are several wobbler offenses in California and your conviction may be eligible.  Is Your Felony A Wobbler?
